from the sea

April 5, 2010

the sea at St Leonards is a playground for the seagulls . . .

but at Hastings there’s activity of another sort . . .

the ‘Senlac Jack’ is being winched in with its Easter Monday catch. Hastings has the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Britain. The fleet, at rest, is very graphic in imagery . . .

quite theatrical . . .

against the back cloth of Rock-a-Nore. If we’re lucky the catch will find its way into the local Rock-a-Nore Fisheries on The Stade . . .

where  Sonny tickles our taste buds with this prime halibut. Back by the sea . . .

the seagulls dip and dive and fish for themselves.
